Chester Bennington

Chester Charles Bennington
(born March 20, 1976) is an American musician, singer-songwriter and actor. He is best known as the lead vocalist and songwriter of the rock band Linkin Park.
Bennington became
known as a vocalist with Linkin Park’s debut album, Hybrid Theory, in 2000, which was a massive commercial success. The album was
certified Diamond by the RIAA in 2005, making it the best-selling debut album of the decade.[1] Linkin Park’s following studio albums, Reanimation, Meteora, Minutes to Midnight, and A Thousand Suns, released in 2002, 2003, 2007, and 2010 respectively, continued the band’s success. Bennington formed his own band, Dead by Sunrise as a side-project in 2005. The band’s debut album, Out of Ashes was released on October 13, 2009.
In 2007, Bennington was placed at #46 on Hit Parader‘s list of “Heavy Metal’s All-Time Top 100 Vocalists”.

Before Grey Daze, when Chester was 15 he played in a band called “Sean Dowdell and Friends” in which he was the lead singer. Currently the only existing evidence of this band is a 3 song tape that includes the following songs: “Painted Pictures” “Kill The Flies” and “God’s Afraid”.

Before Linkin Park, when Chester was 16 he played in a band called ‘Grey Daze’ which recorded two albums, ‘No Sun Today’ and ‘Wake Me’ until later breaking-up.

Chester has designed some clothing for a company called Replicant, owned by Korn’s Head and Orgy’s Ryan Shuck

Chester’s siblings are children from one of his step-parent’s previous marraige. Chester’s biological parents got divorced when he was 11.

His son’s name is Draven Sebastian Bennington (born April 19, 2002).

He and his wife, Talinda welcomed their new baby boy, Tyler Lee on 16th March 2006. He weighed nine pounds and three ounces.

Has an older son. He’s ten years old, from another lady before his ex-wife Samantha.

Chester was the one who came up with the name Linkin Park for his band (taken from the then-name of a park in Santa Monica, California). It was originally supposed to be spelled “Lincoln” but since the band couldn’t afford to buy the domain name lincolnpark.com from its owner, they changed the spelling in order to buy linkinpark.com.

Adopted his oldest son’s brother. He now has four sons: Jaime, Draven, Tyler, and Isaiah.

Bennington was born in Phoenix, Arizona.Bennington attended Ironwood High School. He took interest in music at a young age, citing Depeche Mode and Stone Temple Pilots as early inspirations. Bennington’s parents separated in the late 1980s. He later struggled with cocaine and methamphetamine addictions. Bennington eventually overcame his drug addiction, and would go on to denounce drug use in future interviews. He worked at a Burger King restaurant before starting his career as a professional musician.

Before joining Linkin Park, Bennington was a vocalist in Grey Daze, a grunge band from Phoenix, Arizona, He left Grey Daze in 1998, but struggled to find another band to sing in. After nearly quitting his musical career altogether, Jeff Blue, the vice president of A&R at Zomba Music in Los Angeles, offered Bennington an audition with the future members of Linkin Park.Bennington quit his day job, and took his family to California, where he had a successful audition with Linkin Park, who were then called “Hybrid Theory”.Bennington and Mike Shinoda, the band’s other vocalist, made significant progress together, but failed to find a record deal. After facing numerous rejections, Jeff Blue, now a vice president of A&R at Warner Bros, intervened again to help the band sign with Warner Bros. Records.

Chester had a rather unpleasant life right through adolescence. He was sexually abused as a child, not by his family, but from the people around him. As a teenager, he was addicted to the street drug cocaine. However, Bennington is now free from his addiction and has been so for many years. His co-writer and fellow band member Mike Shinoda wrote a song about Chester’s past which until recently the band could not perform live. The song, called “Breaking the Habit”, brought back memories from the past which in many cases reduced Bennington to tears.

Bennington was formerly the lead vocalist in a band called Grey Daze, who were popular across Arizona and the United States, but didn’t achieve global status. Grey Daze replaced Chester after he left with a female singer and the band is now known as Waterface.

He married his wife Samantha on Halloween at the age of 20, and because he was too poor to afford an actual wedding or engagement ring, the two of them have rings tattooed on their ring fingers. (Done before Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee had theirs done) They have one child, a boy named Draven Sebastien Bennington, born April 19, 2002 at 1PM.

In airports Bennington has to take off all his metal spike bracelets, etc and he apparently has a little bag that he arranges them all in. It is rumored that he is obsessive compulsive because of this and other interesting little habits he appears to have suggest it further.

Bennington seems to have rather bad luck with getting sick on tour.

On 8/8/01 during Ozzfest he was bitten by a recluse spider at a hotel in the Boston area. A portion of Bennington’s arm swelled and he ran a fever, but he finished the whole tour. Most people require hospitalization after a recluse spider bite.
Bennington continues to struggle with a hiatal hernia, an ailment that forced Lp to cancel their show in Evansville, Indiana. (April 11, 2003)
In 2003, Lp was forced to cancel their European tour in June due to a viral infection Chester developed. He was sent to intensive care at LA’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre when he lost feeling in his body and collapsed.

  1. The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.
